Why Is My Thermostat Screen Blank?

Your thermostat is the control center for your Air Conditioning system. Newer Digital thermostats feature easy to read screens that allow you to program your heating and cooling settings.

However, if that screen goes blank, you can’t control any of this. Digital thermostats typically show a blank screen when there is no power going to the wall unit.

Change the Batteries
A  thermostat will flash a low battery signal for about 1 to 2 months before the batteries die out completely. This is easily fixed by removing the cover on the thermostat and replacing the batteries. You may have to reprogram your settings and date / time once the display returns.
No Voltage going to thermostat

If your thermostat is wired directly into your home’s electrical system, a blank screen indicates there is no power going to the unit, which means there may be a tripped breaker or a problem with the wiring.

If the breaker controlling the unit hasn’t tripped, contact an HVAC technician to inspect the wires. Sometimes a loose connection is enough to stop power from running to the unit. Only a Certified Air Conditioning technician should do any service to the ac system.

What Temperature Should I Set My Thermostat in the Summer?

Save Money and Stay Cool by Following These Recommended Summer Settings

Air conditioning units offer great relief from the summer heat, but settling on a temperature to maintain in your home may require a balance between your family's comfort preferences and your financial bottom line. Simply put – the lower you set your thermostat in the summer, the higher your energy bills will be. However, if you work through some of the variables you can shoot for a temperature that keeps you comfortable and saves you money.

The Best Temperature Settings When You're at Home

To stay comfortable and help save money this summer, the U.S. Department of Energy recommends setting your thermostat to 78F (26C) when you are home. Setting your air conditioner to this level will allow you to stay cool and avoid an unusually high electricity bill. If you still find yourself looking for relief, you can invest in a dehumidifier and follow our tips below to trap cool air in your home.

How Do I Change My Air Filter?
Step-By-Step Guide on Home Air Filter Replacement

Your air filters should be changed every 30 to 90 days depending on the type and efficiency of the filter.

During peak summer months, your Air Conditioning system is operating at the highest capacity, and it's recommended that you change your air filter every month.
Remember, regular maintenance of your home or Office cooling and heating system is essential to ensure it operates efficiently and helps extend the units life span.
  • Follow these 4 easy steps for easy home air filter replacement:
  • Step 1: Buy a New Air Filter. Before buying a replacement filter, check the size of your filter – it could be printed on the side of your existing air filter. Simply measure the filter yourself for accurate sizing if nothing is printed.
  • Step 2: Turn Off Your AC Unit For safety, turn off your AC unit before attempting to change the furnace filter. Turn Off at Thermostat or Breaker
  • Step 3: Remove the Old Dirty Filter , Most air filters are located at the bottom of the unit and should easily pull out of the slot. Although not common, some filters are found in air vents or even rooftops for commercial units. If that is the case, you might need to contact a AC professional for assistance.
  • Step 4: Insert Your New Filter There are arrows on the new filter to indicate which side should be facing the Fan motor. The arrows should be pointing towards the blower and the filter should slide into place easily. *Ceiling  filters as pictured .ARROW POINTS UP
